What's going on world? This is your boy Slick, So Fo Real Productions, Real Beats for Real Artists. This is three secrets to getting paid at a live show. Number one, know your venue. Know the size of your venue. If you're going to say have a hundred people at your show, you probably want to be getting a hundred a man. So about a dollar a head a musician. If you're going to be having a thousand people at your show, you probably should be getting paid a thousand dollars a head. It's just a general rule of thumb if you're an independent artist out there and you're gigging.
Number two, get the "promise to pay" in writting. It can be an email. It don't have to be a full blown contract. But as long as it's in email, it holds both of y'all responsible and responsible for holding up your end of the bargain. It's a lot better than just he said she said. So that's number two.
Number three, practice. There's no substitute for not practicing. So if you want that live show and you want to be pay the big dollars, you have to practice. Put in your work. Just like you go to school first before you get the job. You got to practice first before you get the gig. So remember those three things and go out there and live your dream.
