Step 1 - Background singer for tours: Get ear together and teach yourself how to harmonize. Record yourself doing a background part and see if you can harmonize a 3rd above or 3rd below. Do your homework, meet manages, network, get cards, find out what stars are going on tours, and where auditions are being held. Go to open mics, studio sessions, parties, and industry parties. People always need background singers.
Step 2 - Offer singing lessons: Need to instruct and learn how to be an instructor.
Step 3 - Wedding Band: It's better for people who are approaching age 30 and older. Band leaders tend to be reluctant to hire any younger.
Step 4 - Street performer: Get over "I'm to good for the street". Have proper equipment. Stay away from train stations due to sound issues. Look professional.
Step 5 - Host open mics/karaoke: Be charismatic, charming, funny, a great singer, a closer, and performer. Don't be afraid of the audience. Engage: Do homework and study the Greats.
