Today is the first of a series of six videos I'm going to give you about song writting. In this first video I just want to tell you about brainstorming. There's two different ways you can do it. You can either start out with a track like the one playing behind me. It's called piano orchestra it's on our website or, you can just start off by not having a track and just brainstorm ideas in your head.
Basically this is just a process of deciding what you want to talk about and how you want to talk about it. You can draw from your own experiences, you can draw from your friend's eperiences, and just try to think of a message that you want to send or just something you want to get off your chest when you're writting a song. If you start off with a track, let the track speak to you and I think every artists out there knows what they mean or what I mean when I say let the track speak you. Sometimes words would just come when the right track plays.
So, you just want to have a good selection of tracks to go through so you will find that one track that just speaks to you and makes your job as a songwriter easier. Those are just a few tips with brainstorming. Of course you want to be in a good environment and you don't want any distractions. You want to put all your energy and focus into your songwritting and it will make for a better song. I hope that helps you. In the next video I'm going to tell you guys about hooks which is a really important part of songwriting.
