Today I'm going to start a series of three videos on nine steps to striking a home run as an independent artist. This is how you become successful as an independent artist. These are the first three ways.
Number one, you want to practice until you're great. Again, you want to practice until you're great. It's not time for you to come out and step out on stage if you are not ready. You want to practice your craft and make sure that you are at least better than average. And excuse all the barking in the background, those are a bunch of dogs but...
Alright, this is step number two. Step two, you want to go to every open mic you can find. Every open mic that you can find. Go to your directories, go to your family, your friends, and ask everybody in the city where the local open mics are and those are the places you want to hit first. So that's step two.
This is step three. Take the first gig that you can find. Take the first gig you can find. Take the second and the third gig you can find. The ideas here you just want to get started. You want to start getting some experience performing and even if they're not paying you still want to take that gig and start putting your face out there in front of people. Because if you've done the first two steps, right? If you've done step one which is get great. Practice by getting, you know practicing until you are great and then you do step two, which is hit up every local mic open mic that you can find.
Then you want to go into number three because those people out there they see you and you're great. They see the talent. They see that, okay this guy is going to be something where's your show at. Then you're on step three you taking that gig. You're taking all the gigs you can find to put your face out there. So those are the first three things you want to do to strike a home run as an independent artist. Stay tune for the next video. Peace out!
