You may be an artist out there that has a lot of talent, people love you, but you’re still trying to take it to that next level and you’re wondering like well, “how can i get more known outside maybe my local scene?” This is what you can do. You can use what’s called features to do that. i know you’re a solo artist or want to be a solo artist or what not, but you can use features to your advantage and I'm going to tell you how. The first thing is, you get to focus all your work on music. Let the other people market you. Like, instead of you making your own song and then you having to market it, just go out and be feature on other people's music and let the main artist do your marketing for you.
This works, especially like, if you know you’re good, you may know that you’re better than the main artist. The main artist may have that marketing thing down pat so if you get feature on their stuff and then you end up outshining them, then you’re gonna get more notice than that main artist and you didn't have to do any extra marketing. So if you’re a new artist out there and you want to get out there quick and you know you got that talent, then just look for other artist that have a following. Get featured on their stuff, and then that's when the crowd starts noticing you and you’ll get your crowd.
Take Lil Wayne for example, you know all those features that he had years ago, that was on purpose. He knew he was a hot rapper so all he had to do was just get on all those people’s stuff and he was back out there on the scene just like that. The Weekend, the same way, everybody heard of the weekend from that first feature that he did, so now he’s out there. So that’s the tip for all the new artist out there is to be feature on as many people’s things as you can and then you’ll start making a big name for yourself…
